Client Funds and Fees
Technology helps keep our costs down so that we can charge less than some lawyers charge. Lower overhead means more afforable legal services for clients. In addition, technology helps us to keep track of our work more efficiently and consistently. Not all lawyers are comfortable with modern technology; our office EMBRACES modern technology and considers it our partner in our efforts to meet our clients’ needs and goals.
Corporate America and Wall Street will sometimes pay $750/hour, even $1000/hour to their outside attorneys, sometimes paying twice or three times for the same work when multiple attorneys are, essentially, re-doing each others work with each billing along the way. Of course many Wall Street firms are now being bailed out, directly or indirectly, by the government, due to their extreme waste and mismanagement of their own money. Wall Street’s methods of handling and wasting money don’t deserve much respect; your household budget does deserve respect at all times, but especially in difficult economic times.
This Law Office respects client funds and the effort that clients exert to earn the funds which then pay our professional fees. We charge commercially reasonable, affordable fees for useful services and we never forget that unless there are satisfied clients who get fair treatment from their lawyers, there ARE no successful law practices or attorneys.
The Law Office offers flat-fee representation in most criminal and traffic cases and in other cases where the work is unlikely to exceed $1000.00 in legal fees. For hourly rate cases, the Law Office requests an initial deposit to cover the bulk of the likely fees and costs to complete the case. For unemployment insurance appeals, the Law Office charges according to the rates permitted by the Maryland laws and regulations designed to preserve fairness for unemployed workers in benefits disputes.
